What is the inspiration behind your project?: I was inspired to create a song focused on how digital media use has personally affected my life, especially after Covid and the isolation that followed for my peers and I. I chose music as the platform for expressing my thoughts, because I feel that my emotions can be communicated best through music, something I’m extremely passionate about, but also something that digital media has impacted for me.
Reflect on what you hope to communicate through your project: I hope to communicate that nobody is alone in feeling that they have lost parts of themselves because of technology and social media, and focus on the mental health side of digital wellbeing as well as simple ways to take baby steps towards healthier habits.
How do you hope your project will make an impact for yourself and/or others? : I hope that other teenagers can relate to my experiences and ask themselves what social media and screen use has taken from them. I hope that it helps teens reflect on their actual passions and interests and take time to engage in what truly makes them feel happy and full inside.
